Council officials insist the iconic landmark the Seven Sisters is not up for sale.

East Sussex County Council came in for criticism this week after reports circulated that the beauty spot was being sold off.

But deputy council leader and Eastbourne Conservative David Elkin insisted there were no plans to sell it and that officers were instead looking at management of sites it owns – including the Seven Sisters – and looking for interested organisations or charities to run them.
